at Alief ISD’s Marshall Center for Advanced Careers
We prepare students to take control of their future by building skills that cross every area of modern industry from mechanical and electrical systems to automation and digital controls. Our goal is to help you grow professionally, develop problem-solving skills, and gain the experience needed for success in any technical career.
While Manufacturing and Robotics are in the name of the endorsement, students gain skills that overlap with architecture, construction, electrical, welding, and automotive fields, among others. This makes the program a great opportunity to explore different technical areas and discover what career path truly interests you.
No prerequisite is required to join the program; however, most students begin their journey in their freshman year on their home campus by taking Principles of Applied Engineering.
Sophomore year, students attend classes at the Marshall Center for Advanced Careers. Courses are double-blocked, two one semester long classes that provide hands-on training in the fundamentals of electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
Throughout the year, students explore these core areas and choose the pathway they plan to pursue the following year.
For most students, Practicum in Manufacturing Engineering I is a junior-level course, though some may take it earlier. In this course, students begin focusing their studies in a specific area while working toward industry-recognized certifications and, if selected, participation with business partners for real-world experience.
Senior-year students continue developing employment-ready skills while earning additional certifications and advanced training. Depending on their chosen pathway, they may also have the opportunity to gain real-world experience through field training with one of our business partners.
